I have a summer home and my normal house. My house has a pc that has serviio and runs great. I access it through my TV. I want my second house to be able to access the serviio from the 1st house. I know I can do the whole laptop connected to TV thing. But I want to be able to access the dlna server from the TV only. Any thing I can do about this? Or am I stuck doing the laptop web access?

Also, I do have a pc in the second house, not near the TV, that I can throw on serviio on it. Is there a way to have my library on the 1st house show up?

More options.... I have also a ftp server running on the main serviio pc. Just in case that helps.

Nah, the FTP server won't help ;)

DLNA will not transit the Internet, as the protocol used is not permitted across it. Of course, there are ways to join two remote networks together across the Internet. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. Some routers are capable of creating a VPN tunnel between the two networks, but most are not. You would need two compatible routers to talk with each other. One big thing is that the two separate networks cannot be on the same IP address range.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, it might be too difficult for you to do by yourself. Not a diss, but this involves advanced networking skills. Perhaps someone local to you can assist. Or, if you do understand the process, have at it! :D

Not too advanced at all. I didn't even think about a VPN. Looks like I will have to check into both routers...

Thank you
