Serviio

So due to my Google TV 3D limitations (namely Google didn't open up the api fit 3D to developers.) a few years ago I had to seperate my content into 2 pcs/servers. There is no way around that if I want to watch 3D media. It is what it is.

My question is. How can I get both pro serviio media servers to work with remote access through the same ip/network? (I just updated them both and have the 14 day trial. I wanted to get working with before I buy serviio.)

I setup both servers in serviio go. And when I access either. it goes to just the one server. (same ip address, so they makes sense.)

I tried to setup port forwarding on my router for each. Then adding the port I setup to the address in serviio remote settings (ip:port) that didn't work either. As far as I can tell it's not possible to change the port serviio listens for.

How can I get this to work?

You should be adle to setup your router forwarding to something like

wan 30000 -> local_pc5dczc_ip_1:23424
wan 30001 -> local_pc5dczc_ip_2:23424

and then access your Serviio servers as http://public_ip:30000/mediabrowser and http://public_ip:30001/mediabrowser

I apparently don't have those wan settings?
I have an actiontec C2000A Modem/Router.

You should be able to set this up under the Security, Port Fowarding settings (select from the left hand menu) on your router.

As I explained in my post i had tried that. and when i do that and set them up as different ports. they both connect, but both to the same Server. - The problem as far as I can tell is that the port that serviio listens for can't be changed. so it goes to that port and connects to the server on that specific port when you try to connect to it. through the same IP address. (Is my best guess as to what's going on anyways. - in the past when servers let me change the port. then i could setup port forwarding to send traffic with that port to that specific IP. then it has always worked great.)

Did you try zip's suggestion which is to forward two different external ports to two different internal IP addresses?

I have almost the same Actiontec router as you have (C1000A). If you are looking in the WAN settings, you're in the wrong place. Look further down in list under Security where it says Port Forwarding. Here is where you can set up Internet ports.

HOWEVER: if your router has the same settings as mine, you're stuck. Actiontec does not allow setting the external port to a different number from the internal port. So if you tell the router to open port 23424 and direct it to your internal IP address (lets just say it's 192.168.0.5), it will go to port 23424. But if you tell it to open port 30001 and direct it to your internal 192.168.0.10, it will go to port 30001 on the internal computer. Naturally, Serviio isn't listening on that port.

I thought I read in a post some time ago that it was possible to change the Serviio port number, but it required editing a jar file. Not for the less knowledgeable. Not saying you are one, just cautioning, that's all.

Your only other option is to put the Actiontec in Bridge Mode and use a different router to be your Internet firewall. I've done that before, but I have years of networking experience.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah my router doesn't allow that either. But editing the jar file to change the port might be an option.. I just found this online:

Here's what I did:

Extracted the files using WinRAR
Made my changes to the extracted files
Opened the original JAR file with WinRAR
Used the ADD button to replace the files that I modified

That's it. I have tested it with my Nokia and it's working for me.

... So that doesn't sound too bad. (I used to 'unzip' android apk files to edit them as I wanted - I once put my logo as the background for the swype keyboard. It was rad.) so I don't imagine it would be much different than that. I'll mess around with that after work tomorrow thank you for giving me something else to try. As far as the bridge. The just sounds like a whole mess I don't think I want ti deal with. Haha.
