Folder vanished

I recently re-installed Serviio 1.7.1 on a new computer - all was fine until I upgraded to 1.8.
Now, try as I might, Serviio cannot see my Pictures folder (which had remained as a share folder in Serviio) - it i said 'folder not available', now if I try to browse to the folder it is as if it simply does not exist on the Drive.
Nothing has changed on the computer - the Pictures folders are most certainly there, but Serviio refuses to acknowledge their existence.
But when I originally installed Serviio 2 days ago it could 'see' the same pictures folder without a problem.
I have tried de-installing, re-installing both versions, but it makes no difference.

I am at a complete loss! :?

I think I have solved it - by changing the Serviio 'service' logon to my username - is this something to do with my Pictures directory being 'shared'?

I have failed to find it - but is there a clear explanation somewhere about this?

The system user that normally runs the service probably doesn't have access to the folder.
