hey

my cable company in my country give me a "High Definition cable digital TV receiver" that called "fiberbox" the model is DCIWM344 HD from sagemcom.
they recommend to use servio to transmit movies and stuff to the tv. it works fine with tv series but when i want transmit movies it didnt play sound, the picture its fine.

i found that the fiberbox didnt support dts audio so i think this is the problem, what can i do to solve it?

How are you using Serviio to send the video? Are these recorded shows that can be accessed by Serviio, or are you doing something with live TV? If the cable box doesn't support DTS, how is it providing the audio to the TV if it's connected directly? I looked the box up online, but can't find any real specifications.

Regardless, if it provides something that Serviio can process, you can experiment with different profiles to find one that works for you. For a profile that might work for you (leave the video and DD audio alone but process DTS audio) you might try the Roku TV profiles. Probably wouldn't matter if you use the 4K version or the normal Roku TV profile. They both will transcode DTS to DD. Another profile that would work would be the DirecTV profile, but that transcodes everything, and most likely you don't need the video transcoded.

ok, the tv shows are recorded. all the stuff i talked about its not live.

i think that the box supprot dts but the function that called "media center" on him didnt support dts thats what i think.

i try the directv profile, with him i got the messege when i play everything movie or tvshow that "the file not supported".

i will try the roku profile and update..

I would expect anything recorded to be DD audio, not DTS. Almost no TVs support DTS audio. Very strange. It would be nice to see the media info for one of your files. Also, what brand/model TV are you using to watch them?

The TV is a critical part of this. Serviio must understand what the TV supports, and then modify (transcode) if/as necessary to support it. Looking at the info you provided, I see AVC (H.264) video and DTS audio. The audio is 7.1, so could possibly be an issue. But without knowing what TV you are using, we can't judge what it can play. So it's vital to know the make/model of the TV.

I would expect almost any smart TV (which yours must be if you aren't using something different to play the video on the TV) to support H.264, but very few TVs support DTS audio. Even my two Roku TVs, which announce DTS audio processing when they boot, don't accept DTS audio from an external source. They must just use DTS processing to improve the audio it receives.

Or is the cable box what is processing the video from Serviio? If that's the case, then yes the TV doesn't matter. But I need further information about what that box supports.

I used to live in Israel once upon a time and remember the cable companies were HOT and YES. I had YES. Probably it says on their site in Hebrew somewhere the box's dlna capabilities.

But I think thats what he means @atc, like here with the direct tv genie that is supposed to support dlna but I have never gotten it to work.

If it was me I would go on ebay or somewhere that will ship to Israel and get a Roku.

Good luck

OK, now we're getting somewhere. Sorry I misunderstood that the cable box was acting as the DLNA player. So, it supports the MKV container, so no issue there. However, that chart only mentions the containers, not the codecs supported. So we still don't know for certain which video codecs are supported. We can guess that AVC is supported, based on some of the supported containers, but because it doesn't list TS or M2TS that could explain why the Roku profiles don't work. It looks like mpeg2 video is supported, so I'll look through the different profiles when I get home and see which ones transcode into the mpg container.

In the meantime, give some of the Sony TV profiles a try. Going from memory, I think they transcode into mpeg. The Samsung might as well. Stick with the TV profiles, as the Blu Ray player profiles likely pass DTS through.
