Cannot coonect to server

All of a sudden Serviio is dropping off and I am getting the message "cannot connect to server"; when re-booted Serviio is back up but only for about 10mins, and then the same again.
I haven't had any issues in the years of using Serviio, anyone any ideas?

The log is in the Serviio install location, under the Logs folder. by default, Serviio breaks them into 500kb sizes, so there might be multiple files in that folder.

I now have a list of logs that I cannot read, and if I could what would I be looking for, and what would I correct to get Serviio running again.

Which..... can back on last thing last night, and now this morning In get the same message again.

I have tried unistalling and re-installing both Serviio and Java with no affect.

Please attach the log(s) here so they can be reviewed. If you can help pinpoint a time and/or media name that you were playing, that would be useful. Knowing the date/time helps focus on the part of the log that might have the necessary information.

If these logs don't have enough detail, you may need to enable detailed logging to same more information.

Seems that there is something weird with your video files while they are been processed by ffmpeg.

Can you post the output of (run in command shell: Win+R / cmd):
  Code:
"C:\Program Files\Serviio\lib\ffmpeg.exe" –i "J:\Kids Video\Looney Tunes\Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol 6\Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol 6 - Disc 1.avi"
?

One question, have you installed some ffmpeg parser script or did you left by default with serviio installation?

Another question, have you added any temporary directory (those ones containing sparse files) of any P2P or torrent software (BitTorrent, Vuze, Azureus, eMule, etc.)?

L.

I wouldn't know what ffmpeg paser script is, I haven't created any temp directory uTorrent created it.

That particular file probably hasn't been accessed in a long time

Seems that this is the matter. uTorrent creates sparse files that crashes ffmpeg.

So, remove the temp dirs from repository configuration (or any that contain these ones), or just create a file named ".nomedia" inside it (as is, with the dot and no extension). That should fix your problem.

Have you the uTorrent dir in your repository config?

No worries!, my english ;)

When you added folders with your files to your shared folders library, you added also some uTorrent dir (or any that contains it) to library?

It seems (as log reflects a ffmpeg crash) that ffmpeg works fine (the test you did at command line) for you; so I wonder about the video file is a "sparsed" one from uTorrent (and you confirm you can play it when it from outside...); so we can suspect these temporary dirs are been "managed" by serviio.

Hope now is clear what I'm trying to check.

I leave the uTorrent directory alone, this wasn't added to the library; the specific file had issues try to play it, but when I used VLC media player it did play, but looks like a bad file.

Ok!, understood :)

So.... sorry!, now I caught from the log that the string that makes the java.lang exception is the bitrate of your video file (your ffmpeg worked fine for it).

Seems that developers should take a look to that. It would be very useful to turn on detailed logging (http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=detail_logging) and left serviio work till it fails. At that moment (when failed), take all log files generated in the log dir and share them here.
