does serviio support these features?

Hello,

I am looking for 4 features in a media server.

1. alexa skill
2. subtitles download on the client side (while watching a video)
3. subtitles offset support, in case they don't sync
4. trakt support

So far I've tried infuse, plex and emby.

plex: out of the 4 features it only supports the alexa skill
emby: does not support 2 & 3
infuse: no alexa skill

From the features page, I can see that serviio supports alexa skill and trakt integration. Subtitles are also mentioned, but it's not clear if they can be downloaded on the client side, or if they can be offset in case they don't sync.

So, does serviio support features 2 & 3?
Also, my media player is an Apple TV 4K. Can I use it with serviio?

Thanks

1. Yes, although I've never tried it.
2 I don't think so
3. No
4. Yes, but again I've never used it.

That's a tough list of requirements. Might have difficulty meeting more than two of them with any single player. The Nvidia Shield is likely the most affordable player (almost $200) that might support your list. I use both MrMC and Kodi on mine. It will play everything I have on my media server without transcoding, displays captions from any file, I think it would support your #2 and 3, and maybe even 1 and 4.

Yes, your ATV can play media from Serviio, but you will need to install a player app, such as VLC or Infuse (there are many others). I've tried it on my iPad, just as a test, but I've never had an ATV, so don't know how capable it is for DLNA playback. To my understanding it doesn't support lossless audio bitstreaming, but will convert the audio to lossless PCM. However, you would lose Atmos or DTS:X doing that, and perhaps any channels over 5.1.

Re: does serviio support these features?

You mention that I can use infuse as the player app.
I'm already using infuse player, and it supports all requirements, except the alexa skill. Which serviio supports.
Perhaps this is the solution I'm looking for.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks
