(null/null) inserted into my titles?!

In one of the 'not-so-recent' upgrades (guessing back in a 1.8 or early 1.9 version), many/most of my movie titles, as shown by Serviio, had the Folder name and '(null/null):' added to the titles as seen in attached Capture1.jpg.
Ex: "A (null/null): Avatar"
Capture1.JPG
Capture1.JPG (17.38 KiB) Viewed 19045 times

Interestingly, when I view By Title, I get Capture2.jpg..
Ex: "Avatar: (null/null) A"
Capture2.JPG
Capture2.JPG (16.14 KiB) Viewed 19045 times

I had hoped subsequent upgrades would fix it but that was not the case. When I view the Properties of the file, depending on if I am approaching from the Folder direction or Title direction, the Properties window's Description/Title entry matches the respective entry above...? Using Mp3Tag and Windows to look at the file itself...no such entry exists so this is being dynamically built by Serviio itself.

New movies that I have entered are not having this issue, just the ones that I had at the time of whichever upgrade that was.
How do I systematically correct the entries? I have tried a completely clean install/deleted the DB and it still comes back in with the null/null...
Thoughts?
thx

Sorry - forgot this was still pending until it showed up again tonight and I searched it again...
I'm using the Windows client and currently on v2.0

Info from some extra digging: Here is the File Property results from different view pathes...
Straight File System:

Thru Folders:
Folder.jpg
Folder.jpg (10.79 KiB) Viewed 18556 times

Movies:

Titles path was reverse of Movies: "American Pie 2: (null/null) A"
Duration: "A (null/null): American Pie 2"
Actor: "A (null/null): American Pie 2"

It appears that in paths where I traverse the folder structure myself, it reads correctly.
Any time I follow a path where the system is generating a listing to tell me which folder it is in, it adds the folder Letter and (null/null) to the Title property. This is not happening to all movies though...of 101 'A' titles, 78 are impacted. Of 86 'B' titles, 67 are impacted. I can't see any rhythm or reason that the ones impacted are and the others are not. Possible the impacted ones were the ones on hand at the time I upgraded the version and the others came after but I cannot tell.

Serviio is running the latest version 2.0 on a Win10 machine. I just reloaded Windows last night so had to reload Serviio as well. Hoped for the best but still showed up with the null/nulls. Nothing in the actual files' properties has these entries.
Thoughts

does it show like this on TV or MediaBrowser as well?

For whatever reason, right now my Media Browser is only displaying the system icons and nothing of the video files I have but in the past I have seen the 'File:Folder (null/null)' and 'Folder (null/null)":File' entries displayed in Media Browser as well. The crazy thing in that it is not all titles. None of the new ones I load to Serviio do this, just these older ones...

make sure you give the MediaBrowser users access to your shared folders (in the shared folder config in the console)

You were right on that account...I had forgotten to give the permission on the folder. Now the file icons are showing up.
Here is a screen shot of the listing of videos by Title:

Are you using online sources for your metadata? Or some xml files?

Can you post the exact path of the About Schmidt file?

Here is the full path to that movie. All my files follow the same pattern...

Here are the metadata settings too...no xml or other files used

The metadata appears to be fine as MediaBrowser displays info and summary correctly. Here looked up via Title...

Ok, the code looks ok to me. Potentially something went wrong during upgrade.

Can you try to Metadata tab in the console and click Rescan Video metadata and then go to the Shared folders tab and click Force refresh? It should reindex all your videos and hopefully fix all the titles.

So the question is, where is that mistake being saved/remembered...
Since we last chatted, I had an issue with the hardware shutting down without any log data. It was just after loading SlingTV so thought it may be a codec issue, so after trying everything, I ended up resetting the Windows OS. Blew all files off of the unit and reloaded a clean Win10 version. I believe this should have also removed any and all files associated with the metadata for Serviio. Upon rebuilding/rescanning the Library folder from a clean start, these same (null/null) entries are still here. I attempted the Metadata/Library rescan you requested below twice just now, with no affect. I have used Mp3Tag and Windows File Properties to see all the file attached metadata that I can and see nothing different from those that appear without the nulls and those that do.
Last Added shot:

Note that Ultron, Dark Phoenix, Solo and Best of Enemies are ones I added recently. The others I have made file or folder changes to so they were pulled in as new.
Here is the Mp3Tag view. I see no difference between (for example Dark Phoenix and Wolverine)
Mp3Tag.jpg

Unless there are metadata tags that Windows/Mp3Tag cannot see but Serviio uses, this must be created or held within Serviio itself. Where does Serviio write metadata? Can I look in that file or send it to you? This issue does not appear when looking down the actual path but only in views where Serviio is maintaining the virtual path...does that help?

do you see those with nulls in the Series view? It seems to me Serviio thinks these are episodes of a series (the null/null would be episode/season). They should not show under Movies category in that case too.

I had never noticed that behavior on the series before, most because I never look at the TV shows other than in the Series Folders but it looks like you are on to something here...
Here is the Stargate files in the folder...
folder view.jpg
folder view.jpg (47.72 KiB) Viewed 17568 times

Here they are viewed by Actor...and the Series name (Season/Episode) is evident
Actor.jpg
Actor.jpg (25.14 KiB) Viewed 17568 times

So now the Last Viewed that mixes Series and Movies shows...
Last Viewed.jpg
Last Viewed.jpg (24.65 KiB) Viewed 17568 times

The Mars entries now make sense with the Season/Episode nomenclature but Tangled is being seen then as a series...
In earlier posts, I'll see this within the same "T" folder, some movies are recognized and movies and some are misinterpreted as Series.
So how do we reset that behavior?

Doe Tangled show under Movies category?

Here is the Movie view....yep it is there.
Tangled.jpg

So on a thought, I attempted to put the IMDB tag on either the folder and/or file (/Tangled [tt0398286]/Tangled.m4v and /Tangled/Tangled [tt0398286].m4v) in hopes that the system would recognize it as a movie. No changed. While Serviio saw the folder path change, in both cases the Movie and Last Added entries did not change from the (null/null) issue.

Stumped.

could you enable detailed logging and then change the folder name back to force another reindex?

Those logs were pasted as images, so they can't be viewed as a text file. Can you upload them as attachments?
