Serviio V2.0 File Filtering - how to?

Hello Everyone,

I have been waiting for an update to Serviio that would allow filter type filtering and it has finally arrived :)

Now my problem is that I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly. I see that in the Advanced Features I can tell Serviio to ignore files with certain extensions. In my case, Nikon NEF files. I have tried entering the file extension in different forms - "*.NEF", ".NEF" and simply "NEF" (without the quotes). However, when I view pictures on my TV (via PlayStation 3) the NEF files still appear.

What is the correct way to put in the file extension? Do I need to use the dot before the extension, like ".NEF" or do I need to just put "NEF"? Also, if I wan to skip multiple extensions, do I separate them with a comma?

Also, since I have upgraded from version 1.x, do I need to rebuild my library to force it to skip the NEF files? If so, how can I do that?

Thanks to all who reply.

Haven’t done any of this but I believe it’s just the extensions separated by a comma

eg, nef,raw,jpg

This should stop those files from being added to the library, but if it acts the same way as other features like this it won’t remove those already added. To remove the files already there, the easiest way is probably to move the file from the folder to a folder outside of the library and then move it back.

Thanks for the reply. I kinda suspected that it would not ignore the NEF files that were already indexed. Unfortunately your suggestion of moving the NEF files out of the index is not quite feasible for me since I have tens of thousands of NEF files and to move every foler out of the index then back into the index would be a mountain of work.

Does anyone know how I can erase the library index and start it over again?

stop the service, delete the library folder, start the service. It should start with a clean sheet (you will have to re add your users / folders etc)
