.VOB files unable to play with serviio

Hi there,

I'm a big fan of serviio. I use it alot for years now. But i was wondering why can't serviio play dvd's? (.VOB files)

Will it be supported in the (near future) ?

Thanx a lot

Re: .VOB files unable to play with serviio

I just checked my library folders, and I couldn't find any VOB files. Could have sworn I had at least one. But, I'm pretty sure it's your player that has to support .VOB, not Serviio itself, unless you are referring to using MediaPlayer. I don't see it listed as a supported container, but I thought I remember it working on one that I used to have. I'm going to have to try to make a VOB file now to test my memory. :D

Re: .VOB files unable to play with serviio

Thanx for your reply. I have a Samsung 6 Series (40) (UE40MU6100) television. I don't use mediaplayer, i use versiio for streaming movies to my television. So it's because of the (samsung) player on my television ? Guess there's nothing i can change about that ?!?!

Re: .VOB files unable to play with serviio

Samsung support for DLNA is terrible. I have completely stopped using my smart TV functions and instead use external players. My wife still prefers using an older Sony BD player, while I used a Roku Ultra and now use an Nvidia Shield. This way I can also get the lossless audio (TrueHD/Atmos or DTS-MA/X) deom my HD/UHD rips. Playing through the TV interface you're stuck with Dolby Digital or DTS, and the TV is too dumb to switch itself between them.

But yeah, I don't think Samsung supports VOB playback.
