Serviio

I currently have Serviio 1.10 on my Windows home server 2011. When I attempt to install 2.0 I get error messages for numerous files saying: "Error opening file for writing: C:\Program FilesServiio\jre\bin\java.dll" with retry, abort or ignore options.
In that same folder, management; net; nio; sunec and verify dlls give the same message.
If I keep hitting "Ignore" countless similar 'error opening for writing' messages occur for other files.
I deleted the installer file and downloaded it again with the same results - I did this twice more.
Then I downloaded the installer file to my desktop computer and copied it to the server - same result.
I would appreciate some ideas to overcome this problem.

PS: The server is working quite well otherwise.

I know that over the years people have had problems installing Serviio on Windows Server. While I did use Home Server 2011 for a while, I have never used it as my Serviio machine, mainly because the hardware I was using wasn't sufficient for transcoding and the motherboard didn't have enough SATA ports to add storage. There's something in the server OS that is missing for proper Serviio function.

Now, errors like you're getting are usually related to the files being open and in use. Windows will not allow replacing files that are open, which is why a reboot is required for installations so often. Under the non-server Windows, those files are not in use because the install shuts Serviio down before attempting the update. Perhaps on the server version it's not stopping the service. You could try stopping the service manually, then start the update when you know it's not running. It might be more work to set back up, but you could try to uninstall 1.10, reboot, and install 2.0 clean.

Thanks - I didn't even think of that. The Serviio starts automatically, I think I saw in the notes it runs as a windows service. I'll try stopping it and try the installation again - later today when my brainstarts to fully function. 0645 here and no coffee yet!

Well, I was impatient and tried it straight away. Stopped the Serviio, and reinstalled. Took less than 2 minutes. looks good from the smart TV.
