All I need to see are the file names.

My Denon AVR has a nasty bug dealing with serviio, so I am testing with the Sony S5100 Blu-ray player. It says that there is nothing to play for either. When I use MediaBrowser, it too shows nothing under Audio or Video.

Any clues as to what I may have configured incorrectly? Screen grabs for specific config screen available upon request.

If it doesn't appear in MediaBrowser, that means that Serviio doesn't recognize any of the media as playable. Why, I have no idea. At least the MP3 should appear. I'm assuming you can play that media on your computer without an issue.

Have you tried enabling at least one presentation, such as Titles? Just to make sure? Does the Serviio log show the media added to the database?

Yep, plays just fine.

I just set up a few presentations under Audio and Video as display content. While the category names show up, zero content under any of them do. The directory name, under Audio, for the Dire Straits material shows up, none of the song titles do. Under Video, there is a directory named New that doesn't show up. It contains several .ts files. Under the root directory there are a boat load of .mkv files as well and they don't show up.

As for the logs dealing with actual files... yep, it shows files that it checked for that already existed and showed adding the two other files for testing.

Color me confused.

I've got a similar problem:

* MediaBrowser shows no files at all, although all of the categories are there (Titles, Movides, Series, Folders, etc), each category shows no content.

* The Serviio console welcome page shows 13000 video files under the green film icon.

* From VLC IOS 13.7 I can connect to the DNLA server, and browse to the Video->Folders-> section inside VLC and select any of the video files to stream.

* I still have 4 days on my trial license, and wanted to make sure MediaBrowser would work for me.

Wow, that's really bizarre. The media appears via DLNA to networked devices, but MediaBrowser doesn't show any playable media. I have never seen that. Hopefully Zip will see this post and weigh in. But He will probably want some examples of the media you have. See the link in my sig line about identifying your media, and post a couple of examples here.

Sounds like Zip might need to update the link. There's no license for the Intel uPnP tools. Sounds like it went somewhere else. Or are you referring to the temporary Serviio Pro license?

Two of the many files that I added for testing are audio files. Here is the info on the one MP3 file that I added:

I was lucky that the text was still in the terminal, as serviio had already cycled the log files, such that all info regarding any files is now gone.

It looks like that I have misunderstood how the media browser is supposed to work. It shows info based upon the meta tags within the file. The file shown above doesn't have any meta tags, so it ended up under unknown. For the Katy Perry FLAC file, the title does end up showing under Artist/K/Katy Perry, but I was expecting the file name to actually show up. It is possible that a user could have added both a FLAC and MP3 version of a file and the user would not know which one is even there. For me, that will be moot in 12 days, as the temp license will expire. But, for users who do have a license, more details about what is there would be a real help for those trying to figure out content.

But, when I tried looking for the Dire Straits DSF files, all I was shown was the album title. The title should have been shown to me twice as one folder contains surround files and the other, stereo files. But, when I go into that folder, there is nothing. No titles.

Then I went to actually play stuff via the Sony BD player and the Denon AVR. While I could find material, the files couldn't be found. So back to the Linux box to figure out why. Turns out that because I had to reboot the NAS box, the NFS mount became stale. A remount fixed that. Now the AVR can play audio. Didn't try the BD, as I expect it to work as well.

What I need to do now is figure the exact presentation configuration as all I want displayed is folders and file names. On the BD player, even though I selected Audio, I was shown audio and video categories. I won't be digging into this further, as I won't be using the BD player for any video. I just play those files directly on my computer via VLC.

I will have to play with the presentation for audio as all I want are folders and titles to show up.

No idea why this is working now when it wouldn't before.

Now, if only I can get serviio to start up and stay up on the NAS box, since that is where the files are (separate thread).

For the dual directory names, I'm going to rename them, one with "stereo" added and one with "surround" added.

I set it to only deal with folders and that helps for what I want.

I ran the kid3 program to change the meta tags for the Dire Straits files since the directory names already had names that reflected the content. It was the meta tags that messed things up. So I changed the album names to reflect the content. Oops, now the AVR won't play them, complain that the file format is incorrect. Looks like the kid3 program has a bug dealing with DSF file meta tags. But report time. The only way to fix that now is to re-rip the SACD media.
