Windows update auto restart

This is a horrible feature where microsoft pushes an update and I am watching a show and the show stops because they decided to restart my computer as serviio is running on it. The audacity.

The setting to turn auto restart off isn't in settings its in group policy"

Computer management > Administrative templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > No auto restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations.

I already had this checked in windows 7 but when upgrading to windows 10 they set it back.

The update that stopped my show this time was replacing internet explorer with edge and putting icons on the desktop and taskbar. Super important and necessary since I never use either.

I hate microsoft, if it wasn't for windows only software like quick books I am dependent on I would never use it again. (windows, microsoft anything)

Anyway if you are watchign serviio and your computer restarts without you asking it to this should stop it.

Re: Windows update auto restart

In Windows 10, you can tell Windows to restart as soon as possible. I have that set to off on my media servers. You can also set Active Hours, during which Windows will not force a restart. By default that's 8AM to 5PM, so you should change the end time to somewhere around midnight, assuming you aren't normally watching that late.
