If you're playing media with an audio codec that your player doesn't support, you won't get any audio. For example, few if any TVs will decode DTS audio, so while the video might play you won't hear anything.
You have three options in this case: convert the audio in your media to AC3 (Dolby Digital), which is supported by virtually any TV, use a profile in Serviio that will transcode your audio automatically, or use an audio-video receiver that can decode the audio used. Note that for an AVR, you have to use a player that connects to the AVR via HDMI. If the TV is the player, it may or may not be able to bitstream the audio back to an AVR via ARC or optical.
You didn't say what you're using for a player, and what profile Serviio has assigned to that player. Also, it would really help to know the contents of the media. See the link in my sig mine to find out how to get the contents of your media file.
