Just purchased Pro for media browser, video playback issues

Hi,

I've just purchased the Pro licence for Serviio 2.1 for use on my QNAP TS-251 NAS having used the free version for a few years without any major issues and being pleased with it. I wanted to try and setup internet access and use Media Browser, so i paid and installed the licence, assigned a user with access etc. No problem with music, but videos either don't play or take forever to start and then just freeze or appear to buffer and this is only testing it locally on my gigabit LAN here with the NAS right next to my high spec pc.... so remote / internet access looks like its a non-starter! I'm using the latest version of Firefox.. Disappointed to be honest, Serviio now appears to be hammering the CPU on my NAS.

Any ideas please?

Ok i had AdBlock Plus installed in Firefox so i'd disabled that on the Media Browser page and videos start quicker now which has helped but Serviio is seriously hammering the CPU on my NAS like constant 98% - 100% during playback... is this normal??

I have 8GB of RAM in my NAS and it's an Intel dual-core CPU so it's no slouch..

MediaPlayer uses an HTML5 player, and I believe it requires transcoding for almost all content. That might be part of the issue. Also, what is your Internet connection speed, specifically your upload speed? While I have a bit over 100 Mbps down, I can only upload at 10 Mbps, so almost anything higher than DVD quality will end up buffering. MediaBrowser does have a playback setting to reduce the image quality, which in turn reduces the bitrate required.

48 down and 18 up here at present. I was testing this on the LAN though which is gigabit and that's the worrying thing if its buffering on that... i'll have a play with settings
