Search with wildcard or partial string??

I was looking for Shawshank redemption on my NAS.

I know I have it.

Typed "Shaw" ..... everything but came back.

Typed "*Shaw"....nothing found.

Typed "*Shaw*"....nothing found.

Typed "Shawshank"....only result found.

Does the search engine not support partial or wildcard searches?

Shouldn't it?

Am I missing something?

Thx.

Re: Search with wildcard or partial string??

Is this using MediaBrowser?

Not certain why Shawshank isn't returning results. I tried searching for Star and it returned all my Star Wars and Star Trek movies and TV shows. It also returned Belle Starr and some titles with Stars in the name. But I could not get * to work as a wild card. But it appears that it uses some sort of wild card in its default search function. When I entered flight I had titles with Flight and also Flint. So no idea what sort of algorithm is in use.

Re: Search with wildcard or partial string??

Yes, in mediabrowser.

I just did it again with "the shaw" nothing returns...I get shawn mendes, fast/furious hobbs and shaw.....but no shawshank.

if I type the work shawshank, I get it as a single return.

This is very silly......and ineffective.

Any other thoughts?

Do you have that movie to search for to see if your results match mine?

Re: Search with wildcard or partial string??

No, I don't. So I did the next best: I copied another video and renamed it with that movie title. Serviio added it no problem, so I went to search. Yep, no results searching for shaw, redemp, redempt. I typed shawshank and it did return. Sounds like Zip needs to add/fix wildcard searching.

Re: Search with wildcard or partial string??

You can send him a PM, or submit a trouble ticket in Bitbucket. I usually do both with a bug or request. https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/issues
