Automatically fetched subtitles only work for a short period

I've had this issue for awhile with Serviio. I'll start a video playing (on my LG B6 OLED), and for the first 10-30 seconds, I can't skip anywhere, and the duration counter doesn't update while it plays the beginning of the video. This isn't the problem, I just mention it because it seems that this short period is the time it takes for Serviio to automatically fetch subtitles, since after this period, I can choose between internal and external subtitles on my TV, and I haven't manually downloaded any external subtitles.
The thing is, the external subtitles work fine for awhile, but after some time — 5 to 30 minutes, I think, depending on the video — the external subtitles will just stop displaying. Sort of like Serviio only downloaded the first part of the subtitles. I can switch to the internal subtitles (embedded ones, that is), if the exist, and continue watching.
Any idea why this is, and how to fix it?
