I cannot get the correct metadata for the 2021 Showtime miniseries "The Kings".

I have attempted to use the IMDB series ID in the filenames:

The Kings S01E01 [tt14442878].mkv

But it is still listing the files under "The King's Avatar" instead.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

When dealing with a TV series, I find that using the IMDB ID tag in the folder name is more successful than within the file name. I've recorded a number of TV episodes of the old comedy Hee Haw, and the metadata was always iffy. So for the folder that contains these files I changed the name to "Hee Haw tt0063908" and it's been completely successful since. I don't use the ID tag in any of the episode files themselves. I've also improved the metadata retrieval if I add the year of the series. It's particularly necessary when you have a series with same/similar names, such as your example. I also have Doctor Who (1963 and 2005), Dragnet (1951, 1967) and The Twilight Zone (1952, 1985). By adding the year to the folder name, these all keep the metadata squared away.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it didn't help. Even with the ID in the folder name, it is still picking up that other series. Could there be something linked incorrectly in IMBD or TVDB?

Perhaps try adding the year to the folder name, in this case "The Kings (2021)". I see the other title has dates of 2017 and 2019, so perhaps the year will catch it.

I tried that as well, with no luck. It has to be either a problem with the databases, or a bug in metadata detection. I even tried FileBot and renamed the file to the exact name that it suggested, but it still matches it to the wrong series.

Yeah, it sounds like you might have encountered an issue with the databases. I've only had a few mismatches over the years, and using the IMDB tag always resolved the issue. I mistakenly used the episode tag once, instead of the overall series tag, but I checked yours and it appears to be the right one. I don't know if it's worth contacting thetvdb and see what they say. It might be something in the way Serviio is requesting it, and only the Serviio developer can look into that. He's been offline a bit this summer with other life happenings intruding, but hopefully he'll see this and check it out.

I don't know if this is the same I didn't look but for dragon ball and dbz TVDB uses two different orderings: The tv airings, and the dvd releases. Serviio was requesting one when I had the other. The only work around I could do was change to manual metadata but thats not for everyone (with a text nfo file for each show).
