Serviio + mklink = not working

Hello, after creating the link, the files from the network drive are not visible in the serviio. Shared folder in DSM created, what to do step by step?
I don't know English, I use a translator.

Re: Serviio + mklink = not working

Under Linux I have never been able to make a connection to a remote share without actually mounting the remote location to the Linux computer. No idea why, and I'm not Linux savvy enough to figure it out. That was the only way I could get Serviio to see the remote folder location. A link never worked.

Re: Serviio + mklink = not working

Thanks, not something I use so was buried deep in the dark reaches of my mind. Gets scary down there... :D

While it's a Windows version, it's likely working the same way it does under Linux. Also, if that link is based on the user account, then Serviio won't see the link unless Serviio is changed to run under that user account. I can't find anything online that answers that.

I also see there's several switches when using mklink, so perhaps one of those might work better. I'm thinking specifically for /J switch, which creates a directory junction. I'm going to have to play with it and see what happens.

Re: Serviio + mklink = not working

OK, tried playing around a bit. You cannot use the /J switch with a remote source location, so a directory junction does not work. I used the /D switch to make a symbolic link, but Serviio does not recognize it. I have Plex running on the same server, and Plex could see the files on the link. My guess is it's something specific to Java, which is what Serviio is programmed in. I don't know if it's something that can be changed in the programing, or if it's a Java limitation. Only Zip can answer that.

So, bottom line. At this time Serviio will not recognize a symbolic link to an external file location.
