[SOLVED!]MP4 file won't load after pausing.

Jump to solution: https://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=30684&p=136416#p136416

One MP4 file I have plays perfectly fine so long as I start from the beginning and NEVER interrupt it. If I pause the file long enough for Serviio to "back out" of the play screen and back to the listing with options to either start from beginning or resume, and I click resume the file will load up to 33% and never complete loading. If I click Play from the beginning it loads with zero issues and plays perfectly fine.

This is on an ONN Roku TV using Roku's Media Player. I also have a Roku box connected to another TV but I haven NOT tested the file on that system yet.

Here's the pasted text from Mediainfo on the file itself:

This is a set up with Serviio installed according to my signature, connected to ONN Roku TV direct via Ethernet.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Yes it's old. Yes it's outdated. No I'm not going to upgrade. I make it work anyway, and it does.

So far... 8-)

Re: MP4 file won't load on Roku Media Player after pausing.

Roku Media Player is full of bugs, so most likely it's the cause of your issues. There hasn't been a meaningful update for RMP for close to three years, they disbanded the beta test group (I was a member) and really don't seem to care about the program's shortcomings. Unfortunately, RMP is the only DLNA player available for Roku devices, so we're stuck until/unless they make some effort with the program. My solution for the time being is to use a different streaming player. I use a Shield for all of my media playback, and have no issues with DLNA streaming with it.

Re: MP4 file won't load on Roku Media Player after pausing.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, so I'm learning. The app doesn't make any money for Roku so I wouldn't expect it to be high priority if it even is on there radar anymore. Who knows?

Anyway, I'm putting it through Handbrake at the moment to optimize it. I have found with some other files that converting the audio sample rate to 44.1 and checking web optimized tends to cause Roku Media Player to behave better. Seems it has very finicky expectations. Will be back to report if helps.

Re: [SOLVED!]MP4 file won't load after pausing.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Ran through Handbrake

Audio converted to sample rate of 44.1
    Checked optimized for web.

Those were the only two changes I made 44.1 SR may not be necessary to fix this particular issue. I just do this with every file I run through Handbrake as a matter of good practice since it is the industry standard for most audio in the field, plus it helps avoid other problems such as intermittent audio dropping out.

This file loads almost instantly on Roku Media now and has zero issues with pausing and reloading.
