DLNA transcoding

Hi,

I've not been able to find the answer to this, can anyone tell me if Serviio can use a DLNA server as a source and then transcode the data when accessed? It doesn't appear to have that option but maybe this is achievable somehow?

I have a PVR which has a DLNA server for the recordings however the HD recordings are not watchable on my Android tablet so it would be great if Serviio could act as a man in the middle to transcode.

Any info on achieving this would be gratefully received, Thanks.

As far as I know Serviio cannot do this directly, nor can any other DLNA server I've encountered. Serviio can relay streams, so you could use VLC as a DLNA renderer to consume your PVR's output and publish it as a stream. Serviio could then be configured to relay the stream just like any other "online" resource.

eg: PVR > VLC > SERVIIO > RENDERER

This is pure theory as I have never tried it myself :)
