Devices can't see Serviio. Tried the FAQ, I'm stumped

Hey folks,

My DLNA devices can't see my Serviio server and I'm totally stumped. Everything used to work until I had to reset my router after a cable modem upgrade. I also ended up having to upgrade JAVA to 6.0.23 build to test something. I looked at this forum, the Wiki and the FAQ and am still stumped. I'm running WIndows Vista 64 bit. plugged directly into a Linksys Wireless G router.

SYMPTOMS: NO DLNA device can see the Serviio server. This included my Sony Network Media Player and my Android Galaxy SII phone (using various DLNA clients).

WHAT I KNOW:
  • The Serviio server says it is running.
  • The Serviio Process is running.
  • The Various devices that are on my network appear in the Serviio console, including the network media player on 192.168.1.102 with a RED dot by it.
  • Windows Firewall has ports open as specific in the FAQ (TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900).
  • The IP address of the serviio host (192.168.1.100) is entered in the "Bound IP address" field.

WHAT I"VE TRIED:
  • Restarting all the devices (routers, PC, Media Players)
  • Turning off windows firewall
  • reinstalling Serviio on top of itself
TOTALLY STUMPED here and would love some input about additional things to try. Thanks!

Can you post your serviio.log file?

are you by chance using a linksys wrt54gl? i'm having the same issue (i posted about it here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6109). perhaps there is a router issue? seems kinda odd, though, since linksys isn't just some random off brand device manufacturer.

I realize this is going to make me sound like a crazy person but for some reason, just changing to the debug mode to generate the log, and then restarting the server and service seemed to fix things. This is stunning because *rebooting the entire PC* did NOT fix things, which one would think was a superset of merely restarting the server and process. I then changed the config mode back to NON-debug and it is still working. Go figure.

Here is what I did.

  • Manually killed the serviio process in Task manager
  • Went to windows Services and killed the serviio service there too
  • opened up the log4j.xml file and changed it to debug mode per the sticky thread
  • restarted the Serviio service
  • restarted the Serviio Console
  • just for good measure killed the server and restarted it from within the Serviio Console

That seemed to work, so I did those steps again, this time changing it OUT of debug mode, still worked.

Not crazy. I just had the same problem. Neither of my XBox 360s could see Serviio, regardless of what was restarted. Turned on debug, and suddenly everything works perfectly.

Hi DLNA Masters,

Can you help me out with my post here:http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18839&p=100589&hilit=DLNA+drop+out#p100589

I don't seem to have any response at all.

If I have posted in the wrong place please let me know.

With thanks
