Hey

First congrats on this nice piece of software!

Is it possible to browse and stream from serviio from wan?
I was able to succesfully set this up with mediatomb and upnplay (wan server option). Trying this with serviio did not work.
Then I've tried using BubbleUpnp with the BubbleUpnp server. This listed my dlna servers but not serviio. It was not able to get respons from serviio.
I have set up a vpn using openvpn, serviio got listed but was not able to stream.
So I have tried a few things. But I was not able to get it setup

Using wifi on my lan, everything is perfect.

If I could connect to serviio directly using 3g would be really great.
Is there anyone who could give me a suggestion or a tip?

Thank you!

Malic

As said it is coming soon. I'm currently writing and android app that will use the new API built into 1.0, any comments/suggestions/feature requests that you might have would be great. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6036

Try again. I switched from mediatomb to serviio some time ago and had no problems making this work.

There's an extensive recipe here on how to access Mediatomb using UPnPlay over a ssh tunnel. Adapting this to Serviio is just a matter of forwarding different portnumbers over the tunnel. The portnumbers are 8895 for serviio, and optionally 23423 for the serviio console.

Thank you all for your reply!

I must set a few things straight. I have retried connecting to serviio through wifi and it did not work also.
I have changed the user on wich serviio runs and it didn't function well because of file permissions.
Changing the ownership off the files made it all work.
So now I can access serviio using my VPN.
I can access serviio using BubbleUpnp server (dlna proxy)
I can also acces serviio by port forwarding tcp port 8895 and using upnp wan server function!

I'm eagerly waiting for the new version, the new app that connects to it really looks nice!
