Automatic Subtitle Display

Hello everyone,

I do not know if this has already been asked / proposed for "new feature".

What I have is a Sony SMP-N100 media device.
I am using Serviio (Of course :) as my server.

The Sony does not have the option to turn On Subtitle when it receives "stream" from Serviio.

Is there any way (or added on as a feature), to set Serviio to add (embed) the Subtitle (be it inside of the MKV or via a separate file SRT) into the Video stream?

Thanks in advance

No solution with Serviio for the moment, but this feature request is known.
The only solution is to encode sub on video stream.

Thank you Illico.

Unfortunately (perhaps I am just Lazy), I have some blurays that are in foreign language and when I convert them to MKV files, the program I am using cannot extract and encode the Subtitles into the video stream. So I have to find an SRT file that goes with the created MKV file.

I have tried to re-encode the MKV files with the SRT file encoded, but the Sync gets really messed up as the movie goes along.

I have also tried encoding the blurays into the MKV files the first time with the SRT encoded but the Sync problem shows up again...

Seems like the Sony products put (?) limits on what it will / can do with stream files.

Thanks for the info though.

I hope it will be a feature that will be added soon... :D
