360 doesnt see files....

setup seemed to go fine i added folders from an external usb disk with all my videos on it and it doesnt see any of the files in the folder.
there are various types of files so i do not see why it doesnt see any of them.
i get the folders when i look it up on my xbox but not what they contain....
any help would be appreciated
