Uninstall from a Mac

Hi there,

Serviio did not quite fit my needs and I need to uninstall it from my Mac. I moved Serviio to my Trash Can, but every time I try to empty the Trash Can, I get a message saying 'Serviio is still running'. How can I stop Serviio from running and completely delete it from my Mac? Thanks.

Re: Uninstall from a Mac

Easiest is to restart the Mac and then delete.

Restart Mac and Delete? Delete what please? Do you mean Move to Trash again or something different?

Re: Uninstall from a Mac

there is no difficult installation procedure. just delete Serviio and Serviio-console apps from wherever you stored them

Re: Uninstall from a Mac

Hi,

Serviio does fit my needs very well, I'm very happy with it!

I have one copy working on a mac and one working on a windows machine with no problems providing great service.

I also installed it on my macbook and have since tried to uninstall it.

It moved it (serviio and console) from the applications folder to trash and successfully deleted trash.

Unfortunately every 30 minutes or so ( I haven't timed it) it keeps announcing itself and a notification flashes upon my smart tv. This was the reason I wanted to uninstall it in the first place.

Searching my system doesn't reveal any serviio aps and mysteriously force quit doesn't indicate there is a serviio even running.

Any advice is welcome!

Cheers

Re: Uninstall from a Mac

Check the FAQ. You need to uninstall the server too.

Hi,

Thanks for that.

I had already unistalled the server.

I have discovered what was the problem though, the application data files in the home library also needed deleting.

After those were gone and the trash deleted , no more announcements!

Cheers

I'm having the same issue. Can you tell me exactly which folder you removed the data files from?

Re: Uninstall from a Mac

You are asking in a 6 year old thread, so the person might not see your question.

As I mentioned in your other post, I have no experience with the MacOS. But I do know under both Windows and Linux that there can be a program data folder within the logged in user's home folder. Under Linux (and perhaps MacOS), that would be under the root of the drive in the /home/user_name folder. You might see if there's a Serviio folder there, and since it might be hidden you may need to enable seeing hidden files/folders.
