Serviio

I have downloaded 'serviio-1.0-win-setup.exe' with intentions to install the console on Computer A. The server already runs on Computer B.

When launching the installer on Computer A, and prompted to 'Select Components to Install', I select 'Common Files' and 'Serviio Console' only (I uncheck the box for 'Serviio Server'). The install completes, and I launch the executable for Serviio Console. Nothing happens.

Computer A is running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
I have tried uninstalling all previous versions of Java and Serviio, and manually installing Java 6u33 x64 before attempting to re-install Serviio per the steps described above. I have also tried this re-install sequence with Java 7u5 x64.

None of the above have resulted in the Console launching.

Everything runs fine on Computer B, which is a WinXP x32 machine.

Thoughts? This is driving me nuts...

Is there any log created on the machine B? Did you set the console for remote access?

I cannot find anything of note in the Windows logs. I did not look into the Machine B logs because I don't think Machine A ever made contact with Machine B.

To answer your second question, I have not set the console for remote access. This is because I cannot seem to locate find the following files in the Serviio directory/subdirectories: "ServiioService.exe.vmoption" and/or "serviio.bat".

I have my folder permissions set to show all hidden files, so I don't quite understand why they aren't appearing in the installation directory.

Short of Supplying you a series of screenshots, my installation directory looks like this:

Serviio

bin (contains serviioconsole.exe only)

lib (contains a variety of jar files only)

log (only contains serviio.txt)
Thoughts?

You want to look for ServiioConsole.exe.vmoptions in the bin directory, if it isn't there, create it and add

Code:: -Dserviio.remoteHost=IP_ADDRESS_OF_COMPUTER_B

Creating the ServiioConsole.exe.vmoptions file was the missing piece!
