Thanks for prompt reply

Like you I thought it might be the browser

I am using the latest version of Internet Explorer but have tried to run the player in Firefox/Opera and Safari with exactly the same behaviour in all of them

Could it be my security settings ?

Thanks again for at least thinking about the issue

Thank you for the prompt reply and instructions

I have an embarrassing question.

How do I access my config folder so I can tweak log4j.xml ?

I am a novice anxious to learn which is a poor excuse for lack of competence

Look in C:\Program Files\Serviio\config and C:\Program Files\Serviio\log

Should I try uninstall/reinstall ?

The error message simply says....there was a problem with your authorisation.

I have tried to reset my password....nothing will pursuade the browser to launch.

Thank you for your patience

Hi Petr

Attached is a winzip copy of my log file.

I hope this is acceptable practice.

I have sent a further copy to your zip@serviio.org 'e'mail address

If you want me to try anything else please ask and continue to be patient

what is your IP address? open Command prompt and execute

  Code:
ipconfig

and post the results. It looks like it was having problems with the network card. Did you manage to at least run the console and add some folders?

BTW, it looks like your evaluation license expired anyway and therefore you won't be able to use MediaBrowser unless you buy the Pro edition now.

Good Morning Petr

I am confused now.

I have purchased the Pro version otherwise I would not be wasting your time.

Everything works just fine.

except

The browser will not launch !!!

The browser start page opens with active dialogue box asking for my password.

I type the password in and hit enter

Dialogue box clears and up comes error message......'problem with authentication check password'

I did..... tried resetting password and imputing new passwords......nothing works.

An interesting thing

In my hard drive program folders I have three versions of Serviio

C:\ProgramFiles\Seviio and Serviio(1) and Serviio (2)

That does not look right particularly as if I look at my program list in 'Control Panel' only one Serviio is shown

Will I get into trouble if I delete all the program folders ( Serviio/Serviio (1) and Serviio (2)) then conventional uninstall and reinstall ?

I think my licence key is still good

Dont give up on me Petr

Did you upload the license key? The log reports you have FREE edition.

Also post result of the command I asked you before.

Hello Petr

Thank you for staying with this issue

I have uploaded my licence key (attachment to this post)

At my level I think the glitch might be caused by me having three versions ( Serviio / Serviio (1) /Serviio (2) in my hard drive program folder

The log file I sent you relates to Serviio which was the free version I had running before I upgraded to Pro and I reckon that is why you cannot see my licence

Here is the good news Petr

I am out of the UK for 10days so you are spared pulling your hair out over this for a couple of weeks

Here is the bad news Petr

I would like to continue to resolve the issue when I get back so would you keep the thread 'live' ?

I hope so.

For my part I wish to thank you and all at Serviio both for the server (which works really well) and for a first class example of good customer care over this issue.

Believe it or not I have learned from the experience and am glad I upgraded.

Regards

Keith

Please remove you license key from the attachment.

Edit: thanks.

Re your problem. Probably best to uninstall and remove all trace of the various serviio versions you have installed. Then re-install serviio and post a debug log of you trying to log in again.

I think he ment did you upload it/apply it to serviio, which he probably asked because the log showed that you had the free version.

Have a go at the steps in my above post and we can will try and get to the bottom of the problem.

Send zip a pm with all your details. In future, keep a copy of the license file somewhere safe, the email link is only valid for a week.
