Serviio Problems with Java on PC

Hey,

I've had previous problems with Java whiles running Serviio when a new update came out. Anyway, I got that sorted with help from these forums which was much appreciated.

I have now encountered another problem whiles running Serviio. Java seems to conflict with it or something is going on.

When I try and run Serviio Console I get an error message and the server doesn't start either.

Error Msg is below.

"No JVM could be found on your system
Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME
to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from http://www.java.com"

That is the error message I keep getting. I click the OK button and nothing else happens, Serviio doesn't open and the server doesn't start.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Shaz

What operating system are you running ?

goto www.java.com, and download the latest version of Java (v7 update 7)

Or, re-install Serviio, and it should detect whether you need Java and load it properly.

I'm getting the same issue on my 64 bit PC. Installed latest Java 7 v 7 and still the same. All worked fine for a while and then it stopped working. Suspect there has been an update that has broken Serviio.

Try installing the 32bit Java as well as the 64 bit.

You never know, it might just work.

Yep, have tried to download 64 bit but need IE9 64bit. PC refused to install 64 IE until uninstalled IE 32 bit. Did that and IE9 64 bit still refused to install - hence no 64 bit Java and currently no IE.

Each hoop just creates more issues. Easier to fix the bug and send an update for W7 users.

I'm not sure what you did, but there is no need to install 64-bit IE just to download 64-bit version of java (although if you have Windows 7 64-bit, you should have had the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of IE installed anyway). Just go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and select Windows Offline (64-bit)

Just an update. Downlaoded the 64 bit JRE. First install kept dropping out and refusing to install because 32 bit already installed. But after I rebooted I managed to get it to work.
