Serviio

I'm looking advice, manual, howto or any useful info to organize my family photo album.

The recipe to test is use :
1. USB Drive to store photos.
2. Local Picasa to manage & Edit
3. Picasa to "TAG" with descriptions
4. Serviio a Media Manager
5. Samsung TV to watch photos on big TV
6. Optional, mobile uses as a Remote Control

It works but the challenge is to arrange presentation in Serviio to be useful , comfortable and easy to mantain and manage

Difficults are :
1. Total number photos is 10.000 more in future, Nobody wants to see ALL photos
2. Look for a particular set of photos (travel party, etc) take a lot of time.
3. Arrange using folder as classification is poor. I tried using adding TAGs inside photo files with Picasa or similar
4. As far as I test, Serviio just use presentation like Albums ???? and other few metadata like date

Questions:
1. General, any Suggestion for different approach to the challenge
2. In Serviio, How Album Category is link with ??? , to setup Album properly
3. Can I add some TAGS as Category presentation
4. Manuals, documentation, other software, resources, etc

All my photo albums are named "Year-Month-Day Description", I then go on the Album view which shows a flattened out list of all (sub)folders that contain photos, and scroll down to the one i'm interested in. That requires that you know roughly when you took to photos.

You cannot tag photos in a way that Serviio will use for organising, other than dates.

I also use PICASA to add TAG and I also organize by folder ex:"./Year/MonthYear/P1010747.JPG".
That could be fine if serviio could use PICASA tag, and/or exif tag.

I just checked if latest Serviio support tags. Unfortunately it ignores them. I read suggestion to organize photos by folders. But sometimes isn't possible because one photo can belong to few groups . Are you planning to add support for tags in future releases?
