HOW TO: Access media from Secondary HDD

I have a macbook, with my OS running on a SSD and a secondary HDD in place of my optical drive that has all my media files and such.
Serviio is only able to access folders on my SSD, and not my HDD. How can I access my media on my HDD?
I apologize again - I am a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff, so an explanation in laymen's terms would be appreciated. haha
