hi,
i'm almost there.
but seem to be having trouble with the last step.
i am running a synology nas 112j with a sony blu ray player.
i am tying to add the path in the console however eveytime i add /volume1/video it kees changing it to c:\volume1\video arrggh
i have actually added my unc path \\ipaddress\video and according to the status it appears to be scanning files.
i have attached my log file to assist.
as yet no of my presentation changes seem to have taken affect and no files are as yet viable from the blu ray player.
can anyone push me in the right direction?

Are you running Serviio on the NAS or a PC?
If NAS, you have to add a local NAS path using Add Path... button. If it's on the PC, you have to use the UNC type path, but make sure the user running the Serviio service has read access to the NAS shared folders. See
FAQ for that too.

its on the nas.
the servio account on the nas has read/write access to the shared folders.
as per the attachement, add the nas path (nas1),
after saving however path shows as attachement 2 (nas2). (see next post)

So you connect the console remotely to the NAS Serviio instance? It looks like the Serviio server runs on your Windows box, thus converting it to the OS-specific absolute path

the bit in the nas synology install says i should edit the notepad ServiioConsole.exe.vmoptions file with remotehost txt.
but the ip is 1.100 (which is not my nas ip)
should i change that to my nas ip (although instructions dont tell me that)

yeah just about playing an avi file but an mkv still hadnt started playing after 60 seconds or so..
folder searching from the sony dnla device painfully slow or required several attmepts to do so...
when the first folders are specified do it normally go off and spend hours indexing..? i've got a 2tb drive and probably using at least 600gb of media/photo's etc.
i've turned off thumbnails etc, is there anything i can do to make it faster?

Yes, it will take some time and cpu to index all your files.
You should put your Nas ip in the .vmoptions file

Possibly, as well as disabling local cover art
also if i've got a large library should i increase the "pause between refreshes"?
No, it doesn't matter for the first index

left serviio to do its indexing overnight...
came back this afternoon and serviio not reachable from sony bluray (greyed out)
also cant get console working.
rebooted both laptop and synology box and blu ray. still no joy...
given the amount off effort to get it even working, can say im impressed.
if anyones got any suggestions i'm all ears?
****update - oh wait the icon has now shown up - still very slow surfing folders - in fact its given up and timed out - no folders shown******
nope - out verdict: pants...thanks for your assistance n all but do you really expect folks to spend a day and a half configuring this ..and then pay for it?...good luck with that

Did you check the log if files are still being added? The NAS has super slow CPU so might take ages

to be honest i really need something practical and reasonably easy to get up and running.
with a large media store, plex and this both seem to want to spend a week indexing etc
thats no good for me..
the build in media for synology isnt great but it does at least work quite effectively and was easy to install...(just doesnt play certain file types)
thanks again for assistance but the whole thing just needs to be far more seamless...
