Avi files won't play (may be problem with ffmpeg?)

I have quite a few files that won't play at the moment. Just did a complete re-install of Java (54 and 32) as well as a re-install of the latest Serviio.

Serviio is running on my 64b Win 7 machine.

As a broad generalization, my .mp4 files play fine, but many .avi files don't.

Here's the output from ffmpeg:

Do you try with the ffmpeg used with serviio 1.1 version ?

I did try a few of the ffmpeg.exes I found at http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/static/, but none worked so far. Any idea which one was included in the previous version?

What's your device? It's possible FFmpeg is not even involved in playing this file.

I'm trying to route content from my desktop using Serviio into my new Panasonic tc60put54.

post detailed log of playing the file to see if the file is transcoded

I will post a detailed log shortly.

I can play the files no problem just using the TV's own wireless and my home network. I can also play them with Plex, though on my TV using Plex, the pause and FFWD functions won't work for these files with Plex. But given that it plays using the TVs built in wireless, why would it not play through the excellent Serviio?

the log doesn't include anything about playing the file test.avi. Play the file and then post the log again.

Took me a while to get back to this, but attached is my new log, this time after trying to play a file called test.avi.

But I did try play the file. That file, and all the other AVIs in that folder won't play. Strangely, when looking at them on my Panasonic through Serviio, there is an accurate video image in the box on the far left, but in the next box there is an italicized "!". And while there is that accurate pic, there isn't a preview that pops up int the top left (which is what happens with files that play properly). And when I try to play them, the screen displays the message "Cannot read file".

Have you tried the Panasonic Viera E/S/ST/VT (2011) renderer profile? - that profile transcodes all AVI's.

That's what I finally tried and it worked. Strange that the newer one doesn't work for me, but as long as I can play the offending avi files, I'm happy.
