[SOLVED] Fast Forward and Rewind

Hi

Just looking for a bit of information.

Most of the videos I watch in .MKV format do not let me either fast forward or rewind. Pause always works no matter what.
The files are on a Win7 64 bit machine which is attached to the same LAN as a LG HB405SU BD Player which the files are played on and then routed through High Def lead to a LG TV.

What I want to know is this: What enables the file to fast forward and rewind?
Is it the way the original file was put in to the .MKV container?
Is it the streaming from PC to BD player?
I don't think the files are transcoded but could it be that?

Its a function of the player, which then sends a signal to Serviio and Serviio serves up from the point requested

Never crossed my mind that it would be the player.

The Generic DLNA Profile.

try switching the profile to "LG" and see if it helps.

Tried that and still no joy.
Some files work and others do not.

FF and RW are determined by what formats your player supports. in alot of cases where you have this issue it means that the format of the video that it is being transcoded to does not have seek support on your player. The profile may need to be tweaked in order to support FF / RW

The Generic profile does not transcode so anything that plays using this profile is supported natively by your playback device.

Can you point me in the right direction of where I would start to do this.

Well it seems like I was right from the beginning.

It is the way that the .MKV file was "put together" in the first place.

See this --> http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4315

I did this in mkvmerge and now those files are able to F/F and R/W. :D
