Serviio

The only maddening user experience I've had with Serviio (which might not actually be Serviio's fault) is this:

[] When my music collection is picked up by Banshee media player (Linux), it seems to duplicate each track many many times.

I've worked out by trial-and-error that Banshee duplicates each track once for every audio "presentation" option that Serviio has ticked (you know like "by folder", "by artist" etc).

In the meantime I've been able to "fix" Banshee by only ticking "by artist" for audio. But I would like to have most of the other presentation options enabled as well.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing or knows anything about this issue.

PS. Just thought - I wonder if this is to do with profiles?

Are they duplicate in MediaBrowser or other players/devices?

Well this is the thing, other clients seemed not to do the same thing. Must be Banshee right? Hmmm...

I would have thought so.

For me almost any of the Linux Mint clients do the same thing. Every one of the clients that do this do a "manual" search of every directory under the root exposed interface. They don't ask you for anything but the reference to the server. Once you pick that they start searching down all exposed directories, recording the files locally. Is there anything they send to Serviio when connecting that would allow you to restrict what they see? Sort of like the profiles you have for TVs and BlueRay players? Maybe a selectable profile that only exposes the actual directory tree only? To me that would be acceptable on the computers, the TVs and Blue Rays work beautiful as they work now.
