Hi all, I have a student dorm with maximum 100 student. I want to stream some videos and online resources from my workstation at LAN which bought for streaming only. Its configuration is intel xeon e5-1600 3.2 ghz , 32 gb ram wtih ssd (HP Workstations Z420) . Can serviio pro is sufficient for online maximum 100 student. Is its ok for that, can paypass the user password screen ? Thanks.

While that is certainly a powerful workstation, supporting that many users has a lot of "maybe". If all the served files do not require transcoding, there there's likely no problem. Audio only, no problem. Also, for video streaming you had better have a gigabit network.

Since you mentioned password, that means you are thinking of using the Media Browser as the video renderer. I don't think you can bypass the password, so you'd have to just tell everyone what it is.

However, making a unlikely assumption that all 100 students connect to the Media Browser and begin playing a video at the same time, you might still encounter performance issues. Again, if the video does not require transcoding, it might be enough. I don't know what file type can play through the browser without transcoding. I'll have to leave that to someone else.
