Backup Serviio settings.

Hello,

How do I backup my Serviio settings, library, presentation choices etc? I would like to have them saved for reference / import (if required) at a later date.

Thanks!

They are in the library folder, together with all the media files information.

Are you sure about this zip? I'm using patters package on a Synology box. For context:

  Code:
drwxr-xr-x    9 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:37 .
drwxr-xr-x   20 root     root          4096 Sep 20 07:50 ..
-rw-r--r--    1 serviio  root          3255 Aug 28 21:36 LICENCE.txt
-rw-r--r--    1 serviio  root         10900 Aug 28 21:36 NOTICE.txt
-rw-r--r--    1 serviio  root          3396 Aug 28 21:36 README.txt
-rw-r--r--    1 serviio  root         40510 Aug 28 21:36 RELEASE_NOTES.txt
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  root          4096 Sep 20 07:28 bin
drwxr-xr-x    3 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:36 config
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:36 legal
drwxr-xr-x    3 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:36 lib
drwxr-xr-x    5 serviio  root          4096 Sep 12 20:32 library
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  users         4096 Aug 28 21:37 log
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:36 plugins
DiskStation> pwd
/volume1/@appstore/Serviio

If we go into the library folder, I can't see anything that resembles a config file.... ( I checked the cache, db and search folders too)

  Code:
DiskStation> cd library
DiskStation> ls -al
drwxr-xr-x    5 serviio  root          4096 Sep 12 20:32 .
drwxr-xr-x    9 serviio  root          4096 Aug 28 21:37 ..
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  users         4096 Sep 20 07:28 cache
drwxr-xr-x    5 serviio  users         4096 Sep 20 07:28 db
-rw-r--r--    1 serviio  root           164 Aug 28 21:36 derby.properties
drwxr-xr-x    2 serviio  users         4096 Sep 20 07:54 search
DiskStation>

Since updating my Diskstation software, it often looses my Serviio settings and I have to redo them.. big pain, so trying to figure out how to back them up. :/

Re: Backup Serviio settings.

Hiya

Sorry to bring up an old thread but was looking for help in regards to seamlessly backing up all settings including last added order that I usually use. Currently I have it installed on my win7 machine on the C drive but want to change that to D drive. Potentially running two OS's (Win7 and Win 11) until the latter matures. So basically I want to move to a dual boot with seamless move between the two.

The issue right now is I have copied the entire folder and still the options etc are not consistent with my previous install.

I need help
thanks

Re: Backup Serviio settings.

Unfortunately, there is no settings backup available for Serviio. As the developer mentioned, it's all stored within an SQL database and that DB is stored within the Library folder. If you've changed the install location, copying the library folder back into a new install isn't going to work correctly. Since you're considering a dual boot, I don't think you'll be able to have Serviio on both OSs and have a merged database. So lasted added under one OS might not appear under the other OS. Although if the media file locations are the same, they should both be identified as a new addition under both installs. What won't match would be Last Viewed, or being able to resume watching the same title under the different OSs.

The version of Derby that Serviio uses cannot be accessed by more than one connection at a time. So if Serviio is running, the DB is locked from any other connections. In the past there has been some users that switched the database used to MySQL, which then permitted more than one connection at a time. I don't know if those older instructions are valid for Serviio 2.x, as the database structure changes with different versions, and are not compatible with older versions of Serviio.

Re: Backup Serviio settings.

Interesting. I will only be using one OS at a time so might copy paste library folder if I switch OS's. I am only gonna use Win11 until it frustrates me then move to Win7. The issue however is that I copied the folder to the same place and it did not work. So at the moment trying to figure out if this info is still correct?

thanks

Re: Backup Serviio settings.

If your Serviio install on both OSs are on the same drive (i.e. they are both installed on your C drive), and your media is also in matching locations (either on separate drives with the same drive letters or on the OS drive), then copying the library folder should be all you need to do. Install Serviio on the second OS, then stop the Serviio process and copy the library folder onto the 2nd OS install.

Ok cool. Will try that again. The drive location etc are the same. I have a Samsung 980 Pro NVME split into Win11 and Win 7. Data is stored on D drive and backed onto E drive regularly.

Thunderbird, firefox, utorrent etc all on D drive being backed to E Drive all working perfect. Only a few apps to resolve. Will try and get back

thanks

Re: Backup Serviio settings.

Ok so this is what worked for me. I did exactly what you said but I also had to kill the serviio server process in task manager. I have still to do some more testing on devices to see if the last added order is then same. I can at least confirm the presentation and share folders are correct in the Serviio GUI.

thanks again
