panasonic Viera and subtitles in an .srt files

is there a way to have the subtitles provided in an srt files. it works on the computer with VLC display, the Panasonic TV cannot get them...

Firstly are you accessing subtitles the correct way - on your remote you need to press the Options button while the media is playing and then see if the subtitle option is available (you cannot use the STTL button, that's for TV broadcasts, not the Media Server).

If that doesn't help, you need to provide more info - what model TV, what media file type, what profile you have assigned, what are your settings on the Delivery, Subtitles tab, for starters. Most early Viera's only supported external subs (srt files) with AVI files, later models added support for subs embedded in MKV files - but this is a generalisation, it depends on the model.
