The test ive done so far with serviio
been using it for 4 days now and this is what ive experience so far, all test are done on local network, no internet related traffic
- any media cant be seeked for some reason regardless if I viewed it via mediabrowser or via any dlna client
- terrible for gapless tracks, the delay is just too long (1-2 seconds of silence on a gapless remix)
- no support for JIS filenames, this is why almost 75% of my library (specially music) didnt show up. I think even a special character on the file name can also cause the same thing.
- metadata is sooo terrible, I can ignore this if it was editable like in plex but no, I cant do that without messing with that database thing
- no easy way to edit the friendly name of the DLNA and instead it views as serviio (PCNAMEHERE). Im not sure if this going to be fixed in pro version but heck its trial so dunno.
* not to mention that I use this software blindly since it was badly documented specially on linux side. The only thing it had is installation guide which is pretty obvious, for experienced linux user, but the simple thing as how to access the console and whatnot is not mentioned anywhere, most of the time the documentation assumed that I used the windows version of serviio.
All of those experience I had is compared with ReadyMedia Transcode, which is flawless when it comes to all those issues I mentioned above except the metadata. The first 3 issues are critical to me and made serviio useless for me.
