Installation Experiences

I have Windows 7 and a Panasonic TV with Viera.

First I have setup Windows Media Player to access the media files on my PC. Unfortunately Windows media player cannot play all movies, especially Apple formats. For this reason I tried to setup iTunes and VLC. Both failed to serve the TV.

I then installed serviio and I am very impressed and satisfied. I want to thank for this excellent solution.

I have just some suggestions:
1) It would be great, if there would be a question for media paths at or after installation. Currently you start with empty lists on your TV and you have to find the solution by working through the console.
2) It would be great to have more status information. I did not find status information about the progress of scanning the media paths.
3) It would help, if you don't have to walk through the house to the TV to check the lists. Would be great, if you could emulate the TV lists with the serviio console.

Thank you again for the wonderful and excellent product. Every media and hardware company should support you.

1) Defer to ZIP on this one as sound a good idea fro weindows users, but i can see why this would also not work if installing on a server enviroment like linux.

2) this has already been talked about ALOT on these forum do a quickl search (search box at top of page ) :)

3) this would be impossible as no 2 renderers have teh same menu or functions. PLus teh consoel is purely for setting up serviio and nothing more.

Thank you for the fast reply.

The content of the lists would be perfect already. E.g. I don't need the menu structure. Just the lists according to the "Presentation" tab in the console.

For now I can't even see, what files are in my playlist.

There are three other issues I have discovered in the mean time:
1) MP4 files are causing "File not supported" on the TV, although the same files are showing on the TV when using Windows Media Player as the media server.
2) I have added a USB hard disc with "Add local...". Unfortunately only files in the root are showing up in the library. Files in subfolders are not added, although the same files are showing up on the TV when using Windows Media Player as the media server.
3) When I open Windows Media Player on my PC, Serviio is showing up under "Other Libraries". When unfolding the tree I don't see any file and get "No files have been found on this remote library".

Thank you again for listening.

This isnt going to happen as i stated above the console is purely for setting up serviio and nothing more, you can see what files have been added to your library if you look in the log file though.

As your new to us i will answer the question for you :) but please please use the search box at top of the page as all these have been answered MANY MANY times

1) Please provide information on files that will not play ( howto in signiture ) do this in a new thread in the SUPPORT section and in the correct subfolder if one is availible for your device..

3) WMP is not dlna complient as it does not follow the DLNA standard and as such is NOT supported by serviio..

I have been reading through forum postings and support section on the website, but I have not found anything which is similar to my problem. I installed serviio onto an ubuntu machine, fresh install, firewall disabled. I am going to run the console on the same machine. I start the service, but the console cannot connect. Is there any troubleshooting or installation guide for this scenario?
