Choppy playback on PS3

Does anyone experience intermittent pauses when playing back on a PS3? It's as if it keeps bufferring the content but im not sure why. I'm just playing some family guy so it's low resolution.

Nothing else is using the network at the moment so not sure what could cause it. It doesn't happen all the time and I dont have issues when playing back via xmbc on my mac

Ok, sorry :)

What information do you require?

The server is a HP Proliant Microserver with 4gb ram.
My router is a Netgear N3000 (I think. It's the one that can do 2.4 and 5ghz at the same time)

PS3 is connected to the server via 2.4ghz connection, however my mac is too and it's further away from the router

change your wifi channel on your router to channel 9, you can do this by:

1. in IE type 192.168.1.1
2. enter login details
username: admin
Password: password
3. go to wifi settings and set wifi channel to 9

i could prolly talk you thorugh it better but im not at home near my reference info so cant be more specific but should be obvious once your there. :)

Ok,

Wifi channel changes to 9 and heres the Serviio.log in debug mode.
serviio.log.zip
(25.25 KiB) Downloaded 506 times

I just tried to play it on a HD Video which I know will stutter, however the stuttering also occurs on just normal SD videos. I was watching Misfits last night on it and it kept stuttering.

ok, this file is played natively. Can you try connecting via cable rather than wi-fi (for a test)?

Unfortunately not :(

I think perhaps its to do with network traffic? My dad has suggested that when it happens rarely on the TV, that he can pause the stream for a bit to let it buffer and it will play OK.

What I can't understand is why the PS3 stutters, yet my Mac which is next to it, doesn't.

The issue is that its completely random. Theres no set period in a movie when it will do it. Last week I tried to stream Tron and it couldnt even get past the opening without stuttering. On that stream I posted, it got a few minutes in
