The MOST frustrating software I have EVER used
I have been trying to get Serviio working reliably for a long time now.
I have been looking for a way to stream content held on my computer to my DNLA TV an LG LD490, which has an ethernet port built into the set.
My 1st attempt almost 4 month ago worked for a short time, Serviio would pick and choose which files it would accept to play, mostly returning Audio no supported. After some playing about i uninstalled and though little more of it tbh. I found other DNLA streaming programs such as TVMobili which worked but I had the same audio problems. Both systems seems to offer transcoding out of the box however both JUST don't do it. TVmobili worked well but after a certain amount of content watched you have to wait until the next month or pay per month which is BS since it is my own content.
So I thought I would try Serviio once more, I installed it, I followed the some what loose even sparse instructions on the website considering how much seemingly goes wrong from reading these forums. i diligently read through the FAQ and searched the forums. Serviio still will not work. The best I have got it to work is as follows:
It will show up on the TV list, I can select it as a service I can see the root/top directory but when I try and look in that folder nothing happens, at best the TV reports that the folder is empty at worse the tv will throw an error that the folder is not reachable. So I search for an answer.
I have changed the security setting since i do not log on/in into Windows 7 64 bit to reflect user privileges
I have delayed the started of the Serviio service
I have bound the IP into the console with what seems no effect as serviio still see's two devices 1of the ip's belonging to the computer and the LG tv both with an orange light. (How can it see the IP that it is bound to as a service?)
Transcoding just doesn't seem to do anything at all, I have trailed the LG section of the site and looked at others XML config and played about with them with no joy.
I am to be honest totally frustrated with this software and would find is very hard to recommend it to anyone other than serious terminal/DOS box geeks.
