I am a SERVIIO user in the U.S. I'd like to say many thanks to SERVIIO. I would like to stream pics and music files from my PC to my TV via Sony Blu Ray player S580. I had tried to do that by using Windows Media Player unsuccessfully. Windows Media Play on my Windows Vista does not seem to work with my Sony Blu Ray player at all, even though from information I got, it should have worked. Perhaps, if I had spent 100 dollars to upgrade to Windows 7, Windows Media Player would have "played" better with my Sony Blu Ray S580 but I would not spend 100 dollars simply for that purpose. Then yesterday I discovered SERVIIO on the Internet and SERVIIO 0.6 works like a charm for me. Easy set up/installation. My Sony Blu Ray immediately recognized SERVIIO. Simply move the files I want to stream from my PC to SERVIO Console. I especially like the STATUS tab. It's nice to know what is going on with the media server.

I like SERVIIO 0.6 so much I was not hesitant in making a small donation afterward.

Hi,

Just wanted to add to this. I have a sony bluray bdp-s370. I was able to use windows media player in windows 7 without too much trouble. My issues were mainly customisation and speed.

I just wanted 2 folders (TV Shows, Movies), for the life of me I couldnt figure out how to turn off all the extra folders windows threw in there. Also when browsing folders with a moderate amount of files inside it would pause for upwards of 20 seconds when trying to add files to the cached list. With the amount of files I have it would take up to 5 minutes sometimes just to browse the full folder list.

So I searched for a replacement and serviio is the first one I came across. Setting up folders is so simple, just untick the boxes. At most the only pause I get now is about 3 seconds but that hardly ever happens. When I enter a folder I can see the cache is being populated way faster than windows media player used too.

So I just wanted to say thanks for an excellent program. You made my life a little happier

Edit: Got desktop streaming to work. Pretty cool although I think you need a PC with a little grunt. I have a decent computer but Playing a video while VLC is streaming the desktop seemed to cause lag on the TV. That being said there is a good chance the settings I used were not ideal. In any case it is a cool feature.

1st off I wanna KUDO's to the developers, testers and guru's alike...
Been using 0.6.0.1 for not that long, but had compared it against a couple similar apps (that I wont mention.. they all gotta start somewhere) and WOW, excellent!!!

Noticed and downloaded 0.6.1

- Cant wait to try it...
Anyone looking to set up, read thru the posts - you WILL find your answer, the app is intuitive and with minimal modifications (XML codes ect.. it will do what you need).

Set up:
Panasonic Viera 50" TCP50x3
Android - Huawai Ascend (MoboPlayer, UPnPlay/HomeDia/Skifta (multiple for tests)
*Running Serviio (.6.0 & .6.1) on 2 XP boxes (ready... both P4 w/ 512mb ram - 1 sys wireless/1 wired (FWIW - no lag from system))
**Next I'll be setting up some feeds in 0.6.1 - then installing on the better system...

could you please post the settings you used for desktop streaming?

I have tried a lot of different settings, but my Samsung TV can´t find the stream. What am I doing wrong?

1.) IP address - I used 127.0.0.1 as address.
2.) Transcoding - I enabled/disabled transcoding in VLC and serviio
3.) Video format - I tried H264, MP4, MP2
4.) Source types of stream - tried RTP, HTTP, UDP

Hm....

Just tried it for an hour or so.... This time I used dshow instead of screen, exactly as described in the wiki. Even reinstalled serviio....
But still the problem remains. I should have said that

- VLC produces a stream.
- And this stream can be played by another VLC, if I enter http://192.168.0.194:8081 (my PC) as source.

But if I add this address to serviio, on my TV it simply won´t show up under videos->online.
If I add RSS feeds, it works. But not with this bloody livestream :evil:

Thanks guys! It works!!!

I removed the stream from serviio, restarted my PC, ran desktop.bat, then re-added the stream to serviio. I connected a mouse keyboard to my Silex SX1000 USB device server next to the tv and voila: now I am able to control the downloads on my Server via LAN. ABSOLUTELY phantastic!!!! A new dimension of serviio!
