No notification in Linux when missing ffmpeg

In Windows or OS X there is no need to worry about ffmpeg because it is included. It is not included in Serviio 1.0.1 for Linux. This seems like a reasonable choice, but there should be more notification about it. On the download page, I see "This release includes FFmpeg compiled using this source code", which makes me think it's included. I need to scroll down to see "Linux users need to install the FFmpeg package". Then when I ran Serviio without ffmpeg, everything seemed fine until I tried to watch video and found that nothing was available. I saw no error message regarding ffmpeg.
