Can we downsample on transcode for music? If so what are the xml profile options to do it?

Currently neither of my devices sony bdp580/pana vt30 will play 24/96 FLAC as it says unsupported. I can however play 16/24 flac which gets transcoded to pcm

Can i force all higher sampled media to a lower bit depth.

no, you can match all or nothing regarding bitrate/sample rate

can i at least set target bit depth sample rate so it transcodes all flac to 16bit 44khz 2 chan?

you can only set bitrate and samplerate, not bit depth
