Ac3 to DTS posible?

Hello,

I have a Samsung C Series TV connected by optical output to a Pioneer Home Theater System (12 years old :o ) that supports DTS, Dolby Digital and Dolby Prologic Audio.

If I play a movie on the TV with DTS Audio the Pioneer HTS recognices the audio format, notifies on it's display that it's reproducing DTS audio and plays the audio properly. But If I play a movie with AC3 Audio, the Pioneer HTS don't seem to recognice that the audio is Dolby Digital, and sound like a poor downmix. I don't know if it could be because the HTS do not support AC3 encoding.

Would it be possible to Transcode AC3 audio to DTS so my prehistoric HTS can play AC3 audio movies properly?

Thank you.

Then I'll try to transcode to aac and hope I get alt least Dolby ProLogic.

Thank you.

The stereo downmix is just stereo AFAIK. PL2 option would be nice.
