I have bought a WD TV PLAY to free up display ports on my pc, everything works fine, except DTS audio playback (i get a warning DTS is not supported). I now know i have to edit the profiles .xml file, but have never done this before :oops: . Can someone please explain to me what lines need to be inserted in which place to enable transcoding on the fly of DTS audio.

Many thanks in advance.

You can send the DTS bitstream (or Dolby TrueHD) to your AV receiver through HDMI or optical (go through configuration to find this option). This works perfectly for me

If this isn't available as an option for you, you can have Serviio transcode the audio on the fly. Assuming you are using the WD Live TV profile (on Serviio Console, Status tab) edit profiles.xml (located in your serviio\config folder) using a text editor, and:

  • find the section commencing <Profile id="14" name="WDTV Live" extendsProfileId="1">
  • Add
      Code:
       <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" >
           <Matches container="*" aCodec="dca" />
       </Video>
    just above the existing line <Video targetContainer="mpeg">
Restart your PC after editing the file.

Not the best picture but this works for me. The wd tv play cant decode dts but it can pass it through to an AV receiver
