I am using serviio since 0.4.x version for quite a while now...
From a friend I got an HD AVI video, which I cannot watch on my TV

The file has following details:

Try executing this command and post the (error) message:

  Code:
ffmpeg.exe -i \\192.168.178.24\data\video\StiegLarson\Stieg_Larsson__Verblendung_Millennium_HD_Teil1.avi -y -vcodec copy -vbsf h264_mp4toannexb -copyts -acodec ac3 -ab 384k -ac 2 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f mpegts C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\Serviio\transcoding-temp-604-MPEG2TS.stf

FFmpeg doesn't like this file for some reason and cannot transcode it, so you're out of luck.

h264_mp4toannexb failed for stream 0, codec copy: Invalid data found when processing input

h264 shouldn't really be put into an avi container, which is why I never added a transcode match for this in the Sony BDP profile for instance. See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... er_formats

People generally did this before matroska had become popular, when only QuickTime seemed to be able to play mp4 containers so people didn't like to use them either. Most of the time the avi files are damaged in some way, and are often a result of the file's author not really understanding what they're doing. All the ones I have downloaded are unsalvageable - FFmpeg can't remux them.
