Transcoding HEVC/H.265 for Sony BDP-S370 2010 Eu

Will that work?? How do I enable it in the profile?
Serviio 1.6.1and I have an ffmpeg compiled from the sources on the serviio download page.
Serviio 2.3 in a jail on TrueNAS 13 running on an HP N54L w 5*4 TB spinning rust disks.
The media files are on the same machine.

I don't have that particular model, but I think the Sony profile for your player (Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100) should work. HEVC is identifed in the generic profile, which all other profiles extend. However, Serviio version 1.6.1 is (I think) the first version that includes it.

That said, I just tried playing my three HEVC 4K test files on a Sony BDP-S3100, and I was unsuccessful. They loaded, but I did not get any video and playback was jerky. It wasn't the bit rate, as I was watching that and I have H.264 Blu Ray rips that have higher rates that play fine. My CPU wasn't maxed out, so I don't think it was the computer that couldn't keep up with the transcoding. So, I don't know if it was the fact they were 4K files, or the H.265 that was the issue. I've played the files just fine on my two 4K players (Roku 4 and Samsung JU7100), so I know the files are OK. I'll need to do some more research.

Some time ago I posted a suggestion to update several Sony profiles to make them compatible with more file formats. Unfortunately, ZIP who maintains Serviio has not included them in the standard source package which is a pitty if you ask me.

Look here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19170

For your info, I maintain a Serviio package ( sort of an app) for the Linux distribution ClearOS. It is very suitable for anyone who would like to run a x86-64 based server but have no or little Linux experience. In this Serviio app I have already inroduced these transcoding improvements so it works right out of the box! So far there are about 10 000 downloads and no one have complained so far :-)

Zip, if you read this please consider to inlclude the additions to the profiles so every user of Serviio can benefit.

Zip is usually quite open to including improved profiles. I'm sure once he has a chance to look them over ( and test if he has access to the necessary players, which is always an issue) he will incorporate the changes.

I see you've put it in BitBucket and it's marked as a pending enhancement for version 1.7:
https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... r-sony2012
LG OLED55B8PLA | PS4 Pro | Xbox One S | Synology DS214play
Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!
