Xbox 360 fast forward

Hello,
First I would like to say that this program is absolutly great. The addition of the pictures to the Xbox videos was wonderful.
The only issue I'm currently having is with fast forward/skip on a video file.

The current Xbox profile trancodes the videos as follows:

<Video targetContainer="asf" targetVCodec="wmv2" targetACodec="wmav2" maxVBitrate="15360" forceStereo="true">
<Matches container="matroska" />
<Matches container="mpeg" />
<Matches container="mpegts" />
<Matches container="mpegvideo" />
<Matches container="avi" />
<Matches container="wtv" />
</Video>

When I try to fast forward it states that the action is not available.
Any ideas as to what this might be happening?
Thanks

Re: Xbox 360 fast forward

You changed the profile to transcode all avi's and maybe the xbox doesn't support time based seek. Try reverting back to the stock xbox profile and play the avi then.

Re: Xbox 360 fast forward

Thank you for the quick reply. The original Xbox profile allows for fast forward of some but not others. I believe it allowd for fast forward the files that are not being transcoded and the Xbox can play natively.
For example:
This fast forwards with the original profile but the audio is choppy. I think because the video is not being transcoded by the audio is.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954).avi F:\Movies\Movies\20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)\20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954).avi 702,528,512 1 AVI(.AVI) Split 42 AVI v1.0, 0 600 XviD 1.1.0 Final Codec(s) are Installed XVID 2.143 2:06:55 182561 23.976 MPEG-4 B-VOP 1.000 23.976 0.103 2.143 720 336 128 CBR 2 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 Codec(s) are Installed 48000 .

This one does not fast forward. I belive that both the video and audio are being transcoded.
A View to a Kill (1985).avi F:\Movies\Movies\A View to a Kill (1985)\A View to a Kill (1985).avi 735,042,828 1 AVI(.AVI) Split 504 500 OpenDML (AVI v2.0), 0 678 DivX 3 Low-Motion Codec(s) are Installed DIV3 2.313 2:05:44 188586 25.000 1.000 25.000 0.179 2.313 592 256 96 CBR 2 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 Codec(s) are Installed 32000 .

Thank you for your help.

Re: Xbox 360 fast forward

In the original original profile no AVI's were transcoded (apart from those with msmpeg4 codec). Looks like transcoding is preventing ffwd so I'd stick with the original profile. If audio is choppy it's down to the player or the file as the file is playing natively (which you could confirm by looking into the detailed log)

Re: Xbox 360 fast forward

I found a workaround. Once the video start playing, it is being transcoded and saved in the temp directory. If i wait for a few minutes until the video is completely transcoded it still does not fast forward. I stop the playback and go back to the main screen. I can click on resume and now it fast forwards.

Zip, do you have an idea how we could explain that?
