Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

I'm new to Serviio, so forgive me if I seem a little naive here. My Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray player is listed as "Unrecognized device" with the "Generic DLNA profile". As a result, I'm obviously unable to accomplish any transcoding. Is there a profile available for this device? I'm not really up for getting into the weeds and trying to author one on my own... Thanks.

Re: Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

I was able to manually set the profile per your advice. Although the correct profile is now listed, I still don't get any transcoding results.

On the recommendation from jhb50, I followed your instructions at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19. Device Spy doesn't see my device (Samsung BC-C6800 Blu-ray player). Info for it is listed at the DLNA Product Search, but I'm at a loss as to what to do with the results.

I'd really like to get transcoding operational, rather than having to re-render half the stuff I download in order to play it. And if I can provide info to further improve Serviio in the process, so much the better.

what file exactly you cannot play? Does your player have static IP address so that it keeps the selected profile?

Re: Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

I cannot play .mkv files. I have to first convert them to .avi. My player does, indeed, have a static IP address. Also, I made certain that it was powered up and connected to Serviio when searching for it with Device Spy.

Re: Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

It's got Header stripping (header compression). You'll have to remux the file using a tool (search the forum)

Re: Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

Thanks, zip. mkvmerge did the trick. It's a slow day when you don't learn something.

So am I correct in concluding that my problem had nothing to do with transcoding, but rather with an incompatibility between the Matroska option used in my original file (header stripping) and the format required by my player (no header compression)? If so, I'll be interested to see whether transcoding is actually working, if and when my need for it arises.

Re: Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray Player Profile

you are right. Transcoding might fix it, I'm not even sure. But it's a setting of the (mkv) container so hopefully remuxing it into mpegts should get rid of the problem.
